Eskiturk Jewellery Story

“Happiness is not fame or riches or heroic virtues,
but a state that will inspire posterity to think in reflecting upon our life,
that it was the life they would wish to live.”

Herodotus 484 BC - 425 BC, Halicarnassus

I am Aslihan, from the hometown of Herodotus, old Halikarnassus, today's Bodrum. I grew up with the Salmacis myth in Greek mythology, with the Carian history, the Byzantines and the Turks.

Olives, not only because they are symbol of peace, prosperity and immortality but also the way of living in Bodrum, have an important role in my life besides marine life and history.

After graduating Technical University in Istanbul as MSc. Environmental Engineer, I acted as an engineer for various projects in Turkey and Russian Federation.

Design was a part of my professional experience but jewellery design was my special interest in parallel to my professional life. After 10 years as an engineer, I decided to improve my skills in jewellery design and studied Oreficeria-Silversmithing at Le Arti Orafe in Florence, Italy.

In 2010 we initiated Atolye 4D project with a motto of "4 Designers & 4 Dimensions" producing handcrafted and custom-made jewellery. Today we have stores both in Bodrum and Istanbul in Turkey. I am also working with corporate customers and museums for special projects.

In 2021 my new life in London has commenced. Sustainibility, consciousness and cultural diversity will lead my design in this creative city.
